WHAT HAPPENED?
Ex-England captain Rooney has become a much sought-after commodity for broadcasters on the back of seeing another forgettable stint in the dugout brought to a close. The 39-year-old lasted just 25 games at Plymouth, having previously managed only 83 days alongside NFL legend Tom Brady at Birmingham.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Rooney initially left himself open to offers, admitting that he could be persuaded to fill roles with U21 or backroom teams. He has, however, returned to punditry duty – with Amazon Prime and Match of the Day – and is happy spending stress-free time with his family.

WHAT COLEEN ROONEY SAID
With that in mind, Coleen has told the podcast when asked about Rooney’s short-term plans: “At the minute, he's really happy on TV, podcasts and just being at home. Plymouth was a bit far. It hasn't worked out at certain clubs. It's something he's passionate about. It's something he might revisit. He's passionate about TV.”
